March In Numbers

A third of the year gone, and I have been making plans faster than I have been fulfilling them. I’ve booked a foreign holiday; bought the maps to do an epic walk along the Grand Union Canal from Amersham towards London; reserved a place on the Asics London 10k in July.  Lots of anticipating.  Little realising.

Yet the idleness is not total.  So far in 2010 I have swum 109.5 kilometres.

The sharp-eyed of you will notice that this means I’ve swum about half as far in March as I did in January or February.  This is because half way through the month I suddely felt an exquisite pain beneth my right shoulderblade which made swimming difficult, as well as various other pleasurable activities (including those old faves breathing, walking, and sleeping.)  I stayed away from the pool for a week, then got a vicious cold, and so convalesced for another week.  Only now am I beginning to get back in the swing of things.  And swimathon 2010 is less than 3 weeks away, for which I will be swimming 5 kilometres all in one go.  Ee-yurp!  Will there be a happy ending?  Will I crawl to victory?  Or will I splash and burn?  There’s only one blog which will keep you up to date…
